Max, Stanislas, MILLANT is the grandson and pupil of Sébastien Auguste DEROUX, a violin maker who was a collaborator of SILVESTRE in Lyon and MERMILLOT in Paris, before he settled his own workshop in Paris in 1884.

Career
Max MILLANT has been the pupil of Sébastien Auguste DEROUX before joining the workshop of Léon MOUGENOT in MIRECOURT.
He worked then with DYKES and Sons in London with his brother Roger MILLANT, before setting their own workshop in Paris in 1923. See Roger et Max MILLANT in the maker Dictionnary.

From 1969 Max MILLANT retired in Cannes.
At that date his production changed slightly, keeping the high standard of quality and general model of the R&M MILLANT instruments but gaining a more individual look.

Max MILLANT died centenerian in Cannes in 2005.
